forever hungry

I detest the weight of mediocrity,
The hollow echoes of entitled souls,
A constant thirst lingers, never quenched,
Knowledge beckons, yet is out of reach—
Always craving,
Forever hungry.

Oh, my dear, should you choose to walk with me,
Tread carefully amidst the shadows of disrespect,
For I grasp the poison cup of Socrates,
And hear Hughes' whispers resonating in my mind,
Love, it seems, has eluded my grasp,
A deep, unyielding longing,
Yet how can I fathom its depths?
How can I know what it means to love?

Loneliness has been my companion,
For countless centuries, I’ve wandered,
While civilizations rise and fall,
Five thousand five hundred years in the making,
Until I understand, until I truly know—
I will never relent,
I will never, ever surrender.
