I've changed my last name to Plainview
My first time watching Daniel performance was when I watched "There Will Be Blood" (2007)
Funfact I was only 3 when the movie came out
No. I did not watch the movie when I was 3
I dont remember exactly how I know the movie, but I remember I watched it in my dark room alone on a rainy summer day
Daniel Day Lewis showed me something unlike any other. Eventhough I wasn't quite sure I could fully comprehend the movie by the first time I watched it. I was pretty sure that I had the strongest impression for our great Daniel since what he did was beyond perfection.
his painful and greedy eyes
his anger and rage
his complexity under that well-put surface
his masculine and elegant voice
I remember reading one insight from a famous director: "When it comes to choosing actor, it is important to know that the character is always already inside that actor"
In Daniel Day Lewis case with Daniel Plainview, I think it is intentionally created by his first real name since I can obviously felt the emotions under his voice.
What are the similiar traits between him and the mentioned protagonist he has played?
I think the best match would be Daniel's complexity and elegance himself. Everytime I look at Daniel Day Lewis, I always feel there is something burning under that polite, quite and observed surface. That maybe, after all those years of ups and downs with his characters, this person increasingly held within himself the pain, the history and the empathy for his own characters
Daniel Plainview will always my most memorable performance on the screen
